Drive in Pallet Racking Video

I’ve tried to describe how drive in pallet racking works on the main drive-in racks page, but it’s a lot easier to visualize with a video.

This drive in pallet racking video shows, with a simple computer generated graphic, how a forklift loads and unloads a drive in rack. The pallets sit on rails that run the entire length of the rack. When the lift truck brings a new pallet in, it drives the length of the rack and sets the pallet on these rails.

Extra supports are used on the side of drive in rack, since no load beams are used. Using drive in racks increases density considerably over standard pallet racks. When fully loaded, there’s no space in the “cube” of pallets. Obviously, it’s impossible to access the pallets which are buried in the back, so proper FIFO is difficult with drive in racks.
