Here’s a great video explaining the benefits of a double deep pallet rack system. As you can clearly see from the video, the double deep pallet racks consist of two standard pallet racks beside each other. The reach truck has telescoping or extended reach forks to reach the back row of pallets.

In the video, the narrator claims that double deep racks increases productive use of floor space by 60%. This makes perfect sense and is better than my analysis of a 30% improvement. This is primarily because I based my calculations on a wider aisle requirement, while if your reach truck has telescoping forks, you can go with a standard aisle width and see a much greater improvement.
